Hatchlings Program
Dear Fayson Families:
Thank you for your interest in the Fayson Gators' Hatchling Pre Swim Team Program! We are thrilled about the opportunity to introduce your child(ren) to the joy of water and the sport of swimming through this exceptional program. Our system and protocols are dedicated to nurturing confident swimmers who appreciate swimming and being a valued part of our community-oriented swim team.
For the success of this program, ensuring each child's safety remains our top priority. ALL participants must be WATER SAFE to effectively receive instructions in the water. WATER SAFE means having the ability to float unassisted on both front and back with ease.
During the screening process, each child will be evaluated for:
- Maintaining a mostly horizontal body (shoulder to hips) while stationary or moving on the water surface
- Comfort with full submersion and effortless surfacing
Once your child demonstrates readiness in these areas, they will qualify to join the HATCHLING PRE SWIM TEAM PROGRAM.
CRITERIA FOR HATCHLING SCREENINGS:
- Float unassisted on FRONT
- Float unassisted on BACK
- Kick with board (10-15 yards)
- Follow directions
- Basic idea of freestyle
- Basic idea of backstroke
If your child is not fully prepared during the initial screening, don't worry! It's all about learning and progressing. Additional options are available to help them advance to the Hatchling (pre-swim team) level:
- Re-screenings are available after swim practice with the Coaching staff (Andrew or Ellie)
- Free tutorial/practice sessions with coaches and junior coaches before and after GATOR PRE-SEASON practices
- Fayson swim lessons at the lake with Guards/Instructors
Remember, there are no "failures" or "cuts" in the process at Fayson Lakes. Our swimming programs aim to encourage growth and enjoyment in swimming as a lifelong healthy activity and sport. We will assist each child in finding the right path to safety and success. Embrace the process with patience, as we are committed to your child's enjoyment and progress.
